Dawne Diamond Recognized as Telecommunicator of the 3rd Quarter

On May 28, 2026, Dawne Diamond received a 9-1-1 transfer from the Colorado Springs Police Department regarding an elderly male who reported falling inside Bronco Billy’s Casino in Cripple Creek. The call was initially processed as a medical emergency, and Cripple Creek Fire and Medical were dispatched. However, when responders arrived, they were unable to locate the caller at the location he had provided.

Dawne patiently continued questioning the caller about his surroundings, trying to determine his actual location. As the conversation continued, it became apparent that he was disoriented and experiencing memory difficulties. Despite the caller providing changing and sometimes confusing information, Dawne remained calm and compassionate while using every available resource to locate him. She gathered information about his family, requested that the casino page them, and worked with responding officers and dispatch personnel to track down his whereabouts.

After nearly an hour, Dawne was able to determine that the caller was actually at a retirement home in Colorado Springs, not at the casino in Cripple Creek. She coordinated with her partner to contact the facility and have a nurse locate him.

Throughout this lengthy and challenging call, Dawne demonstrated exceptional patience, compassion, and dedication. She made sure the elderly caller never felt alone and reassured him that responders were doing everything possible to find him. Her ability to think critically, adapt as new information emerged, and utilize all available resources ultimately led to locating the caller and getting him the assistance he needed.
